PROGRESS ON BISD CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS

Assistant Brenham School Supt. Byron McAdams says there is real and significant progress in the construction of the new Alton Elementary School on South Market and the renovations of the Brenham Middle School on Blue Bell Road.

McAdams gave a progress report on the construction projects at today’s(Tuesday’s) meeting of the Brenham Rotary Club.  He said people driving by the Alton Elementary construction can now see how the school will look.

McAdams said the construction is moving ahead more or less on schedule even with some rain delays.  He expects the construction on the new Alton to be completed by mid-June and classes will begin there at the beginning of the next school year.

He says the renovations of the middle school are also moving along but the progress has been slowed a little due to the recent rains.  He says some of the materials need to be completely dried before they can continue their work.   McAdams thinks the Middle School renovations should be done by the end of next May and ready for classes in August.  Work on the new Alton should be complete by the middle of the summer and classes should begin on time.

Both projects became possible after Brenham school district voters approved a $26 million bond issue last year.
