PUBLIC HEARING ON BURTON TAX RATE TONIGHT
A public hearing on the Burton School District tax rate is set for Monday night)
The school board is expected to maintain the current rate of $1.13 per $100 valuation.
Officials say $1.04 will go to maintenance and operation, while 13-cents goes toward debt repayment.
Superintendent James Palmer says he also expects no changes in the budget for 2014-15.
He also doesn’t expect Burton’s payment to the state to remain unchanged—Burton is considered a “rich” district and must sent some of its tax revenue to the state for lower value districts.
The Burton School Board meets tonight at 6:30 at the high school cafeteria.
