ROUND TOP AND BURTON CELEBRATE THE FOURTH

The longest continuous Fourth of July celebration west of the Mississippi River continues with Friday’s events in Round Top.

The 164th Fourth of July Celebration got underway with a parade that, as always, began with the firing of the Civil War cannon.

The event included plenty of things to do, including barbeque, kids activites and live music.

Retired Marine Corps Gen. Joe Webber, who has moved to Round Top, gave the Independence Day address kicking things off.

Burton’s American Legion held their annual barbecue at the American Legion Hall.

Barbecue beef and pork were served.  There were all sorts of games and entertainment throughout the afternoon.
