The Chappell Hill Historical Society is encouraging all residents of Chappell Hill to take part.

Society President John Durrenberger says the organization decided to return the Scarecrow Contest after input from the community and is excited to see so much interest.

The contest is open to residents and businesses in the Chappell Hill and judges will only judge scarecrows displayed within the radius of FM 1155--from Dairy Farm Road to FM 1371--and FM 2447--from High Meadows to the Baptist Church.

Durrenberger says anyone who lives outside this area but would like to enter, may display a scarecrow on the Historical Society’s Museum grounds.

There will be three categories: Children, Residential and Business.  There will be first, second and third place prize money for each category.

Entrants must submit an entry form in order to be considered by the judges.  All entries must be submitted by this Saturday and Scarecrows must be on display by October 1.

Judging will take place the first week of October and winners will be notified by October 10.  The Annual Chappell Hill Scarecrow Festival is October 11th and 12th.

Entry forms can be picked up at the Museum.  For more information call 979-836-6033.
