SCOTT AND WHITE HOSPITAL DESIGNATED TOP STROKE FACILITY

The Scott and White Hospital in Brenham is one of the top health care facilities for treating strokes.

Scott and White Hospital in Brenham has once again been designated as a stroke support facility in the Brazos Valley Region.  The Texas Department of State Health Services again designated the hospital as a Support Level III in Trauma Services Area-N.  This is the trauma services area that includes Brenham.

Michael Pittman, the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Nursing Officer for the local hospital announced the designation yesterday(Thursday) saying: “To keep this designation as a support stroke facility is important because it means saving lives.”  Pittman went on to say the designation shows  that the Scott and White in Brenham meets the high standards and can provide a ready team of medical professionals to provide quality care for stroke patients in the area.  He said it means the Brenham area stroke victims can get to the definitive care they need in a timely manner.

The re-designation means that the Brenham hospital has consistently maintained the high standards of a support facility and displayed a commitment to making quality  care available to patients experiencing a stroke.  As a support stroke facility, Scott and White Brenham is held to the standards of a support center, meaning they meet specific criteria and time requirements on how quickly patients received certain services, such as  CT Scan, which are reported to the physicians in a timely manner.

Scott and White Hospital Brenham first received its designation as an advanced support stroke facility in 2012.  The new state designation is valid for a two-year period through July of 2016.
