STRONG STORMS BRING RAIN, WIND CANCELATIONS

  

Strong storms blew through the Brazos Valley, including Washington and all the surrounding counties early Sunday.

          At one Sunday morning, strong thunderstorms capable of producing heavy rain, gusty winds and frequent ground lightening.  The storm moved southward into Leon, Milam, Robertson and Madison Counties, and there were steady rains in Washington County.

          Those rains washed out the second day of the Chappell Hill Scarecrow Festival on Sunday.  The festival was to have run extended hours this year.

          The thunderstorms became less severe as it moved towards Washington County.  The county received a solid rain late Saturday afternoon and there was a steady rain through much of Sunday morning.
