TEXAS SENATOR CORNYN OPTIMISTIC ABOUT END OF SHUT DOWN

Ten days after the U.S. government shutdown, closing two recreational parks at Lake Somerville, along with the curtailment of many social services,  there is little hope that the shutdown will end soon.

The exception is Texas U.S. Senator John Cornyn.

Cornyn, the second ranking Republican in the Senate said yesterday (Wednesday) said there is an endgame for the shutdown.  The senior Texas Senator said the end would involve cuts in long term spending without the ‘Draconian’ defunding of Obamacare, sought by fellow Texas Senator Ted Cruz.

Cornyn said he was confident that President Barack Obama and leaders of the Republican led House and Democratic led Senate would put aside the standoff over funding health care reform to open negotiations about raising the federal government’s debt ceiling before the limit is reached next week.

Local Congressman Michael McCaul has his proposals for stopping the shutdown.  The district 10 Congressional representative wants to end the exemptions of members of Congress, their staffs, and the Administration and their staffs of provisions of the Affordable Care Act to be stopped.
