THEFTS AND ASSAULT LEAD INDICTMENTS

Three men who were allegedly trying to steal a boat from Lake Somerville in late May were indicted in this week’s session of the 21st district court grand jury.

Former Washington County Sheriff’s Deputy Art Senteno was patrolling at LBJ Drive and FM 1948, when he saw 20-year old Gabino Ibarra, 19-year old Edward Aleman and 21-year old Zachary Dowland, all of Houston, apparently trying to tow a boat.  They were parked on the side of the roadway and Deputy Senteno thought they were having mechanical problems.

Senteno investigated and determined the boat had been stolen and arrested the men.  All of these men were indicted for theft between $1500 to $20,000.

The grand jury handed down 28 indictments in this week’s session. Thirty-three year old Gory Ragston of Old Washington is facing decades in prison after his indictment for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in an incident in late August.

Ragston is charged with barging into his former girlfriend’s apartment in the mid-morning hours of August 29th, grabbed a knife and threatened her, then took her cell phone.  He then allegedly went out to her car and used the knife to puncture the tires.

Also indicted on theft charges in this week’s grand jury session was 32-year old Robert Lee Bellville, Jr., of Cypress.

There were several drug cases dealt with in this week’s session of the grand jury.
