THREE INDICTED FOR MACHETE MURDER
Three men, whom investigators believe belong to the notorious Central American drug gang, MS-13 have been indicted in Walker County for the murder of a 16-year old high school boy.
Josael Guevara was found hacked with a machete in the Sam Houston National Forest on September 23rd.
The Walker County Grand Jury indicted 22-year old Cristian Zamora, Ricardo Leonel Campos Lara, and 17-year old Jose Leonel Bonilla-Romero for their alleged roles in the murder.
All remain in the Walker County Jail under a one million bond.
Investigators found evidence at the scene, such as tire marks, that helped identify the vehicle suspected of being used in the murder. The vehicle was found later that night at Zamora’s residence. Zamora is said to be from El Salvador.
Bonilla-Romero and Lara were arrested three weeks later in Houston.
Walker County District Attorney David Weeks said ‘all three men have admitted to participating in Guevara’s murder.’
Investigators believe members of the MS-13 street gang or4dered the men to murder Guevara. They said they don’t what he could have done to upset the gang.
If convicted, Zamora, Lara and Bonilla-Romero could face life in prison.
