THREE INJURED IN ACCIDENT IN INDEPENDENCE

  

Three people were taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bryan, after suffering injuries in a two-vehicle collision Saturday in Washington County.

Authorities were called out just after 12:00-noon to the intersection of FM-50 and FM-390 in Independence.

Two of the victims were trapped in their vehicles until authorities were able to get them out.

Traffic on both FM-50 and FM-390 was stopped in both directions for nearly an hour, resulting in a long backup of vehicles.

Eventually one lane was opened and traffic moved slowly until the accident was completely cleared.

The identities of the victims and the extent of their injuries have not been released.
