TIRE AND RIM THIEF SENTENCED TO JAIL

One of the several men convicted in the rash of tire and rim thefts nearly three years ago had his probation revoked in this week’s session of the 21st District Court.

District Attorney Julie Renken says it was simple technical violations that sent 19-year old Tyrin Dewayne Hunter to a state jail for the next 13 months.

Judge Reva Towslee Corbett sentenced Hunter to 13 months  in the state jail for the probation violations.  He must also pay a $1500 fine.  Hunter was part of a gang that perpetrated numerous tire and rim thefts for several months in 2011.

Renken said 33-year old Antonia Ramirez of Brenham ‘simply wanted to get it over with’ and serve a 67 day sentence in the Washington County Jail, plus court costs. Renken said that Ramirez was eligible for probation because she was a first time offender.

A traffic stop for 46-year old Jeffrey Scott Spivey in September of 2012, led to his third conviction for driving while intoxicated.   Judge Corbett sentenced Spivey to six years probation, and ordered him to pay a $1500 fine.  He will also have to put an interlock device on his vehicle and serve 60 days in the Washington County jail.  He must also perform 200 hours of community service.

Renken says 25-year old Jarvis Jermaine Williams of Houston was one of three men involved in a scheme to forge paychecks from Whataburger.  Two of his accomplices were convicted of the scheme in December.  They were also forging checks from Kentucky Fried Chicken.  Judge Corbett sentenced Williams to five years probation, a $2000 fine, and ordered him to perform 200 hours of community service.

Judge Corbett sentenced 40-year ld Jason Kyle Grabaeschick to five years probation for the possession of a small amount of methamphetamines during a traffic stop four years ago.  He must also perform 200 hours of community service and attend Alcoholic and Narcotics Anonymous meetings three times a week.
