TOW TRUCK DRIVER SHOOTS MAN

A Bryan man who was trying to prevent his vehicle from being repossessed is in critical condition after a tow truck driver shot him.  Ed Pothul has this report.

Bryan police report that a tow truck driver shot Richard Pennington four times after Pennington threatened the driver and beat him with a wooden handle.

The tow truck driver with M.A.R.S  Wrecker Service, who has a concealed handgun license, pulled out a gun and fired four times, shooting the vehicle owners twice.  Pennington suffered wounds to his chest and under arm region.

Pennington was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bryan, last listed in critical condition.  Police say the tow truck driver was cooperative and was released from the scene with no charges filed.

Mike Saenz, the owner of Mike’s Auto Recovery Service, says that in the last 13 years, nothing like this has happened.  He says guns had been drawn on him and his workers before, but shot were fired as they’d been able to de-escalate the situation quickly.
