WALLER ROLLS PAST CUBETTES, 14-4
The Brenham Cubettes’ woes continued Tuesday night as Waller jumped out to a 9-1 lead after two innings, en route to a 14-4 win at Waller.
The Lady Bulldogs scored five runs in the bottom of the first and added four more in the second, as they sent the Cubettes to their seventh loss in 10 district ball games.
It was the Cubettes (10-11/3-7) who got on the board first, when Madison Hooks single and then scored on Macie Becker’s single.
But Waller (6-3 in district) countered with five runs on six consecutive hits in the bottom of the frame.
The Lady Bulldogs extended the lead with five runs in the second, utilizing two triples, two walks and an error.
Brenham rallied for three runs in the fifth inning as they strung together four straight hits, with Kelly Jurden, Hooks and Ashley Hodde all scoring runs.
The Cubettes are off Friday. They will be back in action next Tuesday when they host Willis at 7:00. That game can be heard on KWHI and www.kwhi.com.
In other 18/4A action: Montgomery 12 Caney Creek 0; Magnolia West 8 Willis 0; Rudder @ Huntsville did not report their result.
