WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS APPROVE CONTRACT FOR SEWAGE IMPROVEMENTS

Washington County Commissioners have taken another step towards a remedy for sewage problems for some residents in the Alois Lane area of the county.

Tuesday morning, the Commissioners Court approved a contract with Jones and Carter Engineering for the project that will connect the area with city sewer lines.

Washington County Judge John Brieden says with all the contracts now signed, work on the project can proceed…

The area, just outside the Brenham city limits, can no longer take any septic sewage.  It’s a problem that has existed for nearly a decade, and was first addressed by the late County Commissioner David Simpson.

For the residents for the area, Brieden says this projects will represent a drastic improvement in living conditions…

Also at Tuesday morning’s meeting, commissioners took care of a number of routine items, including:

--Renewal of an agreement with Adult Probation for community service work.

--Approval of “housekeeping” items concerning the HOT Board by-laws that had already been approved by the City of Brenham.

--Renewal of an agreement with the company that provides support for the local elections.
