A crowd of nearly 200 people braved the weather conditions Thursday night to attend the Washington County Sheriff’s Forum in Chappell Hill.

Washington County Sheriff Otto Hanak took the opportunity to review his first year in office and to map out plans for the future of law enforcement.

Hanak says a major focus of the future is the budget—and the most vital part of the future budget is personnel…

Hanak also told the crowd that projections are calling for quick and significant growth in the county—saying his office must be prepared to handle that growth.

The Sheriff also addressed his first year in office and said he felt that 2013 was a big success for fighting crime in Washington County…

Hanak callled the event a "big success" and says this forum is something he’d like to become an annual event.  He says this is a good way to let the public know what’s going on in his office.
