WASHINGTON COUNTY COMMISSIONERS REIMBURSEMENT FOR ROAD REPAIRS

Washington County Judge John Brieden says the county is near the point when they can begin work on repairing county roads damaged due to oil and gas drilling.  He says however, that while the county is receiving funds from the Texas Department of Transportation under the County Transportation Infrastructure Fund Grant, the county will use its own workforce and equipment to do these repairs.

Judge Brieden says the County Commissioners, when they meet Tuesday, will pass a resolution to determine the level of reimbursement they would ask for the use of equipment and the county’s workforce.

TxDot has $341,000 available to Washington County for these repairs. The County Commissioners established a County Energy Reimbursement Zone in order to be eligible for this grant.

The County Commissioners will also award contracts on bids to remove materials from bridges recently torn down at Shirttail Road and Salem Cemetery Lane.  This is mostly wood that needs to be removed.

The Washington County Commissioners meet Tuesday morning at nine at the courthouse.
