WOMAN ARRESTED AFTER “DIRECTING TRAFFIC”

A Brenham woman faces charges after she tried to lend Brenham Police a helping hand by directing traffic.

44-year old Letitia Fion Nickerson was found in the middle of the intersection at 1300 Prairie Lea Street and the Highway 290 feeder road.

Officers say when they arrived Nickerson was walking back and forth in the intersection, directing traffic.

Officer Drew Mitchell says he’d already given Nickerson a verbal warning earlier in the day for the same thing.

When asked why she was directing traffic, Nickerson reportedly told officers “there was no law against it” and she was a police officer from the state of Austin.

When the officers attempted to remove Nickerson from the intersection, she resisted and so she was arrested.

Nickerson is charged with crossing between an intersection and resisting arrest.
