The collision of a motorcycle and a truck on Texas Ave. on Tuesday morning left the 22 motorcyclist dead, and the truck driver arrested for a DWI.

Occurring just after 3am, the wreck forced officials to shut down Texas Avenue for hours, opening the northbound lanes just before 7am, and the southbound lanes just after 10am.

The driver of the truck, 36 year old Andrew Gueda, was arrested and charged with DWI after officers on scene found probable cause.

The identity of the 22 year old on the motorcycle, noted as a Bryan resident, is not being released at this time.

Officials have collected evidence suggested the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed at the time of the accident, and when the truck left the Days Inn parking late, the bike struck the bed of the truck, throwing the young rider several feet. While the rider was wearing a helmet and he was treated on scene by paramedics, his injuries were too severe, and he passed away due to their extent.

Gueda was also sent to the hospital for his injuries.

The crash is still under investigation.
