#16 BUCS SWEEP TRINITY VALLEY, 3-0

Non-conference victory gives Blinn its 20th victory of the season

BRENHAM, Texas – Blinn College volleyball was able to shift around certain positions and used its depth to sweep Trinity Valley Community College 3-0 by the score 25-14, 25-21 and 25-15 Friday night inside the PE Building in Brenham.

With the win, the Buccaneers improve to 20-8 overall and the conference record stays put at 5-1. Blinn has won five in a row after beating Trinity Valley.

“We were able to get a lot of subs in to play big roles,” said Blinn head coach Kalie Mader. “We also served really well with nine aces and we were able to earn our points instead of letting the points come to us.”

Kills were really spread around but Eboni Mitchell was able to lead with eight and Abolanle Onipede finished with six kills and a .400 hitting percentage. Ally Lanik and Justus Tuiolosega split time at setter as Lanik had 15 assists and Tuiolosega finished with 11. Dana Teets led with 15 digs.

Aggressive serving helped Blinn to jump out to a fast start as the Buccaneers had more aces (9) than service errors (6). The Buccaneers easily took the first set 25-14 and then fended off a better effort by Trinity Valley but still took the second set 25-21.

Blinn made quick work of Trinity Valley in the third set by winning 25-15.

Blinn will get back into conference play on the road with a match against Laredo Community College on Friday, Oct. 16 at 6 p.m.
