2014 PROPERTY TAX ROLLS SHOW MODEST GROWTH

Property rolls in Washington County show only modest growth over 2013 property values, according to Chief Tax Appraiser Willy Dilworth.

The Washington County Appraisal District has now certified the property rolls for the eight taxing districts in the county.  Dilworth says new construction in the county was below what he considered “normal”.  Because of that, there are only slight increases in the property rolls for each taxing district.

BlinnCollege’s property roll showed the largest growth of just over 120 million dollars, for a total of $2,968,034,853.

Brenham ISD’s growth was right behind, with just over a 104 million dollar increase to a total of $2,403,190,296.

WashingtonCounty’s property roll is now $2,932,484,569, and the County’s Farm to Market property roll is $2,919,916,369.  Both grew by about 102 million dollars.

The City of Brenham’s property roll grew by just under 24 million dollars to $1,102,575,469.

Burton ISD’s property roll grew by just under 36 million dollars for a total of $442,933,215.

The City of Burton’s property roll grew by just under 1.3 million dollars to $19,251,508.

And property rolls in the Oak Hill Water District grew by just over 78 thousand dollars to a total of $34,085,966.

All of the 2014 property rolls released by the Appraisal District reflect values before any “freezes” are applied.

Each of the county’s eight taxing districts will now work toward setting their tax rates.  They will use these figures to determine the effective tax rate, which is the rate that would generate the same amount of revenue as last year.  If any district decides to raise the tax rate by more than 7.99 percent over the effective rate, they could be subject to a rollback election.
