BLINN COLLEGE HOLDS FALL PREVIEW DAY

More than 150 high school students from across the Brazos Valley got an inside look at Blinn College Friday during the its first Fall Preview Day.

Students and their families, including some from as far as Bangs, Texas, spent their morning at the Blinn – Bryan campus, taking tours and learning about academics, admissions, financial aid, advising, instructor expectations, student activities and campus safety.

“Preview Day is a great opportunity for students to learn more about Blinn, especially if they are unsure where they want to attend college,” said Calli Wood, prospective student advisor. “Blinn has incredible programs to offer almost every student. This is a great outlet to showcase that and assist students in making an informed decision about their future.”

Previously, Preview Days were offered only in the Spring, but Blinn’s Prospective Student Relations Office responded to demand from students interested in learning more about the College.

“With the addition of a Fall Preview Day, more students get to explore Blinn, and we can maintain an intimate setting where they can network with faculty, staff and other prospective students,” Wood said.

During the morning session, students had the opportunity to learn from College staff about advising, admissions, financial aid and instructor expectations. Students also learned about safety on campus from College police.

In the afternoon, students visited with various program faculty to discuss study and career interests. Students were also presented with housing options from local apartment complexes.

Blinn – Bryan will host Spring Preview Days on Feb. 20 and March 13. For more information, visit www.blinn.edu/future.html
