$5000 REWARD BEING OFFERED IN BURGLARY

A $5,000 reward is being offered in a recent burglary.  The Brenham/Washington County Crime Stoppers, in cooperation with the Washington County Sheriff's Office, is offering a $5,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest and indictment for those responsible for recent Washington County residential burglaries. During the burglaries, firearms and electronics have been stolen.  Specifically, the Sheriff’s office is asking the public for their help in identifying suspicious persons or vehicles in and around a residence in the 2100 block of Rau Road during the daytime hours of Thursday, December 7.   Information suggests a vehicle and possibly a trailer were utilized in the latest burglary.

Washington County Sheriff Otto Hanak wants the public to know that his office is aggressively pursuing all information and evidence related to this and other burglaries, yet the solvability rate of burglaries remains low, unless evidence exists and some assistance from the public is provided.  Sheriff Hanak asks that our citizens remain vigilant when traveling our roads, especially county roads and to be observant for unfamiliar vehicles and persons in and around private property.

Should anyone have information related to these crimes in Washington County, contact Brenham/Washington County Crime Stoppers at (979) 836-8477.  Your name will remain anonymous and you may be eligible for the cash reward.  Citizens can also contact the Communications Center at (979) 277-7373 (non-emergency) should suspicious activity be observed and you may not feel it is necessary to contact 911.

  1. Don’t know if this is related or not: Sunday night, Dec 10, 7:25. White 4 door sedan pulled up our house, someone came up on the porch and when the dogs barked and my husband stood up, they saw his shadow and yell, ” Someone’s home!” They ran back to the car and sped off.

  2. I am ready for these burglars to have their heads blown off in the act. I guarantee, if I catch them in my house, I’ll be pulling up carpet that same day. When these burglars get the message that blood is going to splatter, that will slow this activity down.

    1. I was burglarized a few years back. It is not a good feeling to say the least. I worked hard with the authorities and one of the burglars was convicted. After this incident, I realize that if I would have interrupted the burglars, I would not have been prepared. Who knows what could have happened to me and my family. My outlook has changed. I support the “Take Heed” response. I recommend that anyone be prepared for the worst.

  3. This is a young family who works hard for everything they have. They have lost many of their valuable items right before Christmas. Please, if anyone saw or knows anything contact law enforcement.
