LIBRARY CELEBRATES SEPTEMBER AS SIGN-UP MONTH

The Nancy Carol Roberts Memorial Library will join with the American Library Association to celebrate September as “Library Card Sign-up Month”.

During the month of September, every student will be able to obtain a free library card. Studies show that children who are read to in the home and who use the library perform better in school. The library will also host a number of activities, including a “Design a Bookmark Contest” where the winning design will be reproduced.

In addition, anyone who has lost their library card can come get a free replacement card during the month of September. Any member with library fines can bring someone who has never had a library card to sign-up and have their own fines forgiven. The library will also be participating in “Fines for Fido”: for every donated pet item or pet food, the library will forgive $5 worth of fines.

The Nancy Carol Roberts Memorial Library offers access to a variety of print and digital resources, including e-books, online homework help, and online language learning with Mango Languages that can be accessed in person or online.

For more information on how to sign up for a library card, and the fine forgiveness program this month, visit the Nancy Carol Roberts Memorial Library in person or visit the library online at http://cityofbrenham.org/library or on find the library on Facebook.
