ACCIDENT CLOSES 290 WEST BOUND LANES AT LOOP 577

  

The Brenham Fire Department responded to a vehicle accident Tuesday just before noon.  A vehicle towing a camper collided with on oversized load on the overpass on 290 East at Bluebell Road.  The west bound lanes of 290 were diverted onto the service road until the accident could be cleared.  There was no fire or entrapment reported.

Traffic is diverted to the 290 service road around the accident.

  1. I was literally right behind them. It wasn’t the over sized loads fault. The truck literally tried to squeeze past the load n his RV got caught n was ran over. The guy could have literally crushed himself & his wife! They’re lucky to be alive!! Wonder if he got a ticket or anything for trying to pass when there was literally no space…

  2. Notice how the oversize load is in the LEFT lane! That is not how it should be. Slower traffic should ALWAYS be in the RIGHT lane!

    1. First of all, that driver MAY have had instructions on which lane to be in for that particular area. Secondly, the passenger vehicle should NOT have tried to pass. He or she did not exercise good judgement. Here is a little tidbit for all you whiners out there complaining about the trucks on the roads. You don’t like trucks? Quit buying things! Problem solved. Trucks deliver most everything you purchase in one way or another! The accident would not have happened if the driver of the truck/rv had a little patience and waited until it was safe to attempt to pass!

  3. Probably had the accident because of the
    rough overpasses!!!! Every one on 290!!!
