ADDITIONAL PUNISHMENT FOR DRIVER IN CRASH THAT KILLED MAN & UNBORN BABY

Shanna Elliott
(Hayes Co. Sheriff)

A Hayes County judge has tacked on additional punishment for a Texas college student, convicted of killing a Bryan man and his unborn child.

22-year old Shana Elliott received a 14 year prison sentence for causing the 2016 crash near San Marcos that killed 23-year-old Fabian Guerrero of Bryan.  His pregnant wife survived the crash, but she lost their unborn baby.

Elliott was found guilty on two counts of intoxication manslaughter and one count of intoxication assault last month.

At the trial in March, Elliott admitted she was guilty and the jury decided she should serve seven years for each death she caused.

Judge Jack Robinson has announced he’s chosen to stack the time for a total of 14 years.  With parole, Elliott could be free from prison as early as 2023, but her punishment will not end when she leaves prison.

Robinson has ordered her to turn herself into the Hays County Jail every year during her probation on the anniversary of the crash where she will stay for two days, one for each victim.

The District Attorney says this case sends a strong message that there will be consequences for people who drink and drive.

  1. I wonder if this young lady had a criminal record or previous dui,s if not then this is a very harsh sentence for a first time offender what a waste of a young person’s life. she knows that she did wrong and admitted it this should count for something it’s done and nothing can bring back the dead

Way to show the victim and the ones who lost their life what really matters.
