AFFORDABLE LEGAL SERVICES A CONTINUING PROBLEM

  

Affordable legal services in Texas are a real struggle for Texans every day. 

This past week was National Pro Bono week, and the State Bar of Texas honors this by choosing to launch this important initiative because of the increasing need for pro bono services during these harsh economic times, and the unprecedented response to attorney to meet this demand.

The National Pro Bono Celebration can be an effective strategic tool for enhancing and expanding local efforts to increase access to justice for all, and to use it to increase pro bono participation and expand legal services to low income individuals and groups.

The State Bar of Texas works to ensure that all citizens have equal access to justice by providing free resource materials to the public, supporting legal services programs for low-income Texans, and encourage member to provide at least 50 hour to pro bono legal services each year.
