AGGIES COMMEMORATE 15TH ANNIVERSARY OF BONFIRE COLLAPSE

Aggies around the world are commemorating this day 15 years ago when 12 young A&M students lost their lives in the collapse of the Bonfire stack.

At 2:42 this morning, the moment the logs fell 15 years ago, hundreds gathered at the Bonfire Memorial, built on the site of the stack location.

Twenty-seven were also injured when the 60-foot tall stack of logs came crashing down.

Bonfire has not been held on campus since the collapse.

An off-campus bonfire run by students has been held yearly since 2002.

This year's is scheduled to burn in southern Robertson County, November 26, the day before the Aggie’s Thanksgiving Day game against LSU.

  1. That was a horrible day. It changed a lot of lives and we should never forget the victims and there families. I pray that tragedy will never happen anywhere or to anyone. Keep your prayers for the families in these tough times.
