ALLEGED ABDUCTION IN BRENHAM; A FALSE REPORT

The Brenham Police Department has determined an attempted child abduction reported last week, was false.

A press release issued at noon Tuesday stated that the department had completed its investigation into the alleged abduction of an 11-year-old child and has determined the incident never occurred.

The incident was said to have taken place on April 19 during a concert at First Baptist Church. The child claimed a man in an older model vehicle called her over to his vehicle to see his puppy.

According to the Police Department’s release, “After several interviews with both the child and witnesses, including interviews conducted by Scotty’s House, it has been determined that incident was fabricated. The child has been referred to a counselor.”

While this incident turned out to be a false report, Brenham police are still asking parents to remind their children not to get into a vehicle with anyone they do not know, and if someone does approach them, to notify a parent, guardian, teacher, or any other adult that they do know.

Those adults are then asked to contact the Brenham Police Department immediately.

Brenham Police continue to encourage children to talk to a parent or adult about any event and to be cognizant of their surroundings at all times.
