A&M BEEF SHORT COURSE THIS WEEK
Texas A&M is once-again hosting their annual Beef Cattle Short Course, running through Wednesday on the A&M Campus.
The booming beef export market and potential future trends for the ranching industry will be among the topics discussed this week.
J.J. Cleere, a specialist with the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service tells the Bryan/College Station Eagle, there will be discussions and demonstrations of interest for any level of rancher.
Twenty sessions will take place over the three-day workshop beginning at 8:30 a.m. each day.
Topics include forage management, cattle genetics, nutrition and reproduction and record-keeping. Participants are allowed to choose which sessions to attend.
Cleere said he expects 1,500 participants this week.
The event uses facilities across the entire Texas A&M campus, including the Memorial Student Center, Pearce Pavilion and Rosenthal Meat Science Center.
Registration is $220 through Monday. Producers can register online or on-site Monday.
