A&M MAKE CAMPUS CARRY RECOMMENDATIONS

Texas A&M administrators have made their campus-carry recommendations to system regents.

Officials are recommending that licensed concealed firearms may be carried into campus classrooms and inside college-owned housing.

The firearms, however, will be banned, from science labs, a campus child care center, counseling and health care facilities, the campus chapel and facilities under federal jurisdictions.  That would include the George Bush Presidential Library and nuclear reactor facilities.

They also would be banned from sporting and other special events. Firearms also would be banned from campus facilities operated by a third party.

These recommendations must still be approved by Texas A&M University System regents.

The new rules are prompted by a state law that takes effect Aug. 1, allowing students to carry licensed concealed weapons on campuses.
