A Houston-area standoff involving a man who allegedly abducted his daughter in Austin came to a peaceful end.

According to the Austin Police, 33-year-old Jesse Thomas abducted 2-year-old Cheyenne Infinity Johnson late Friday.

Deputies with the Harris County Sheriff's Office blocked off a shopping center parking lot along Highway 249 at Spring Cypress after the vehicle was spotted Saturday morning.

Deputies with shields approached the suspect's vehicle and spoke with him for more than an hour before he surrendered. His daughter also got out of the vehicle and did not appear to be harmed.

Both were treated by EMS at the scene.  Thomas was then taken into custody.

Police says Cheyene Johnson was taken by her father, who no longer has parental rights, after he showed up at his mother’s house Friday and she refused to let him in. So he kicked in the door and took the child.

Thomas later led Montgomery County authorities on a short chase early Saturday morning, that reached over 100 miles per hour with the girl inside.  He was able to elude capture.

At the time the Amber Alert was issued late Friday, it was believed the girl was in grave danger.  Thomas reportedly has two counts of 'aggravated assault on an officer' against him.
