AREA FLU CASES PEAKED IN LATE DECEMBER

  

With everyone talking about the flu this year, you would think the number of cases was still rising, but it may have peaked the last week of December.  Dr. Seth Sullivan with Baylor Scott and White College Station said that the number of reported cases in the area has been trending down since December 23rd.  The flu vaccine this year was not a particularly good match for the flu virus, so the number of people getting the flu has been up.  While most people will be down for a few days with the flu, other may have difficulty with it.  Dr. Sullivan explains who is most at risk for complications:

The big question most people have is do they have a bad cold or the flu.  Dr. Sullivan explains how to tell the difference:

Dr. Sullivan said that if you suspect you have the flu, then visit your primary care physician.  They can confirm if it is the flu and prescribe medications to limit its severity.
