  1. As I read the post to this news report I have to shake my head at some of the mindset represented. For those of you who want to throw out the race comments….I don’t care if these boys were white, black, Hispanic, or Polk-a-dotted…facts are:
1.) they broke the law period
2.) they knew it was wrong period
    3.) they victimized people period

Giving these boys praise on the football field is not being fake. It’s called being a decent human being and giving credit for something positive no matter what the color of your skin is. People who know the suspects are too quick to forget about the victims. If it were them, they would be shouting for justice too.
There are a lot of good people in this town of all colors, but we also all have our faults. Blaming a community for these young men choices is ridiculous, blaming white people for their choice is ridiculous. I am sorry their friends and family are having a hard time dealing with the actions and consequences of these individual’s personal choices, however our laws have a purpose. Our laws are in place to protect the victims not the criminals. We are too soft on crime and until criminals are held accountable the victims will continue to be victimized.

  2. Its funny how all these non-black people wont to throw the book at them. Wont them locked up for every. Wanna talk about its single parents home fault but yet what about the white kid that shoot up a whole school and he have both his parents in the home. So you see its not always the parents fault its All our faults. Ask your self how many times you stopped and just stop and talked to any kid are notice them going down the wrong road and try to help get them right, but yet when that little black boy running that ball for brenham football you all in his face fakan tha front. Brenham as a whole need to do better, black are white are what ever color. Know I do still think they need to do time but not stupied time. They are young men who made s chores that they have to live with. Wrong is wrong sn know they got to do some time

  3. have you ever been robbed GH well i have and it changes the way you live. whenever you leave the house only if it’s for a couple of hours you make sure your home is completly locked up’ doors locked windows closed and locked and nothing left out in the yard. my life has been changed by someone that you say made a mistake. maybe if you got robbed you would change your mind.

  4. I wonder if these boys were white would the comments be so harsh yes some have had chance after chance but who throws away the key on our youth. That is not the answer society as a whole has failed. Peer pressure especially on our children is hard mistakes are made. Yes if they have had more than one chance to straighten up then harsher punishment is due but those that are caught up and didn’t know what was going on deserve a chance to go on . I don’t mean go unpunished but given a chance like the ones that’s had two and three chances he only needs one. No one can judge but God almighty.

    1. No one asked for a life sentence….but they deserve significant jail time and race has nothing to do with it….

  5. I hope that when these four men face the judge that they get the Maximum punishment for there crime spree, and NOT just a slap on the hand. What they do not know is how devastating it is to come home from a hard days work to find your window shattered and glass everywhere and every draw pulled out and its contents dumped out on the floor. To know that a stranger has touched everything and has been in every room of your home, They not only take our “Things” they also take our sense of well being and cause our children to have nightmares because their home ( Their safe place) has been violated. These men had no respect for others. Please Judge when they stand before you, Put them away for the maximum time.

  6. We need to remember that these burglars will probably make bail and be back on the street. There is no reason to believe that after the dozens of burglaries and thefts these criminals committed that they will turn over a new leaf and stop. For them It’s an easy way to make money without doing an honest days work. So remember to lock up your vehicles, your house, your garage and take your valuables inside. Let’s all work towards not being a victim and fight back and remember to vote.

  7. Second Chance??? I think not. I sincerely hope the DA will send the strongest message possible by sending these criminals to the State Prison for a long time. If you want to stop crime, start ensuring the criminals know there is a very high price to pay for committing a crime. Enough is enough, our town should not have to live in fear of having our property that we work hard for taken by criminals.

If Larry wants to know what’s wrong with our youth, check out the marriage and divorce rates in our nation. Sadly the family unit has deteriorated and to many children are being raised in single parent families without the support of both parents and a value system that is broken. Our religious beliefs and rights are being attacked and devalued, and we have created an entitlement society where hard work and personal responsibility are not longer valued.

  8. I agree with L.H.A.P.’s comment, they have managed to get themselves armed. The mentality that these are non violent crimes is one that may soon be proven wrong. These smash and grab home invasions and auto burglaries that have been occurring have resulted in numerous firearms thefts. That opens the door for the possibility for more serious crimes for these criminals, such as armed robberies and so-on.

  9. I know that at least some of these young men have been in the Criminal Justice system before this. Maybe it will take hard time for them to learn their lesson. Maybe they will never learn, especially since the parents have enabled them before, and helped get them off. As long as they think they can just steal what they want, instead of working for it, they will be a menace to our society.

  10. I am glad these young men were finally caught. I live across the street from one of the victims. The garage was broken into, it was not their mustang stolen (that was from somewhere else…not from Jason Lane) but a gun was taken. Now you not only have breaking and entering, but they were armed. Thank goodness no one was hurt.

  11. Second chance?
They are not children, they are grown men.
I’m sure they knew what they were doing was WRONG and a CRIME.
I’m praying for the families that got victimized. Who had their homes broken into and privacy violated.

    1. I agree, second chance(s)?
We have crippled our Youth. That’s the PROBLEM, no one wants to take responsibility of their wrong doing(s). If you are “big” enough to commit the crimes then you should be “big” enough to accept the consequences of doing the crimes. There are no excuses. Some of US do work VERY HARD @ work- everyday for our personal belongings.

Key to SUCCESS = Stay in school (go to college) and then get a DECENT paying Job!

  12. Sorry, Larry, it is not where”we went wrong” as a nation. It is where “they” went wrong as parents. Everybody wants to place the blame on the schools, the government, etc, etc, when a child goes bad, when it really goes back to the parent. Parents just want schools to be babysitters. Schools can’t discipline properly because of the parents screaming,” my baby wouldn’t do that, you can’t punish him.” So the kid learns he can get away with it. And I doubt it is any worse now than it ever was. Just more people, so more if it happening. Think about it. If 1 % commit crimes and the population is 100 million, that is 1 million crimes. If the population is 300 million, which is in the vicinity of the population of the US now, and 1/2 percent commit a crime, that is 1,500,000 crimes committed.

    1. This does not necessarily mean the parents are at fault. As parents and gusrdians of any child, it is our goal and responsibility to raise productive citizens, but once the child is a certain age, they will make some decisions on their own good or bad that won’t have anything to do with the way their parents raised them, these are called choices. So you may want to be careful when you assume that parents are spoiling or upholding their kids in their wrongdoing.

  13. wow, praying for there families……sadden by this because i know these young men……hope the DA’s office give them a second chance at life an not be put in the penal system…….what has become of our young black youth……..where did we go wrong as a nation…..

  14. What is really going on with our TEENS these days, when spare the rod spoil the child came into effect children felt like they could do anything and be invisible to crime or just hanging out with the wrong people, Parents need to go back to being parents and not being your child FRIEND.
