ATTEMPTED TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO CHASE IN FAYETTE CO.

  

An attempted traffic stop in Fayette County turned into a vehicle chase Tuesday afternoon.police-lights-feature

At 4:45 p.m., Fayette County Deputies David Smith and C.J. Lehman attempted to stop a 2012 Chevy pickup for a speeding violation on Interstate 10 east near mile marker 677.

The vehicle failed to stop, at which time the deputies learned it was reported stolen out of Rosenberg. A pursuit ensued with the pickup eventually leaving the roadway after spinning out in the median. The driver of the vehicle, 30-year-old Amilcar Alexander Hernandez of Houston, fled on foot. Hernandez ran across the westbound lanes of Interstate 10 and was apprehended by law enforcement along the embankment.

Hernandez was taken to the Dan. R. Beck Justice Center and was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and evading arrest and detention. He is also being held on an immigration detainer.
