AUSTIN BOMB SQUAD HELPS DISMANTLE ‘EXPLOSIVE MATERIAL’ IN SCHULENBURG

The Austin Bomb Squad helped dismantle explosive material, similar to napalm, in Schulenburg on Saturday.

According to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, a call came in on Saturday reporting possible explosive material left outside a home on Oakland Road.

The caller said her ex-boyfriend created the explosive, which was made out of gasoline and Styrofoam, and then left the residence.

When authorities arrive on the scene, they observed a cardboard box containing the gasoline and Styrofoam- which had made a gel type substance.

The cardboard box was ignited and disposed of by the Austin Bomb Squad, while the Schulenburg Fire Department stood by as a safety precaution.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office says they are currently investigating why the material was created in the first place. No other information is available at this time, due to the ongoing investigation.
