AUSTIN COUNTY ELECTS NEW TAX ASSESSOR-COLLECTOR

  

Many contested races highlighted the ballots in area counties in yesterday’s (Tuesday) Super Tuesday primaries.

In Austin County, Kim Rinn beat out current Tax Assessor-Collector Marcus Pena in the Republican Primary 2,420 to 3,060.

In the Austin County Commissioners’ race in Precinct-One incumbent Reese Turner finished with 494, Mark Lamp with 812 and Allen Kaminski with 376 in the Republican race. Turner and Lamp will go into a runoff on May 24th.

Precinct-Four Constable James Clark will continue his position after beating out fellow Republican Matt McArthur 778 to 188.

 

In Burleson County two Republicans filed for Sheriff: former Caldwell police chief Thomas Norsworthy, and former police chief in Somerville, Richard Terral.  Norsworthy won in a landslide, 2,614 to 476.

Joe Baldwin Jr. is the new County Commissioner for Precinct-One winning over Mike Weichert Jr. 437 to 234 in the Republican race.

In the Precinct-Four Republican race for Constable Jason Muzny won over Peter Glidewell 370 to 338.

Incumbent Grimes County Sheriff Don Sowell won big over Shawn Sayers in the Republican race 3,339 to 808.

The Republican primary in Grimes County also features incumbent County Commissioner in Precinct-One, Chad Mallett winning over both Janet Green and John Bertling. 617 to 471 and 240, respectively.

Precinct-Three incumbent Barbara Walker beat out Richard Pinon in the Democrats Primary 221 to 37, while Dorothy Holtkamp beat out Scott McDonald in the Republican race 271 to 191.

And, in Precinct-Four, Incumbent Republican Gary Husfeld won over Al Ripper 607 to 228.

In Fayette County, incumbent Tax Assessor-Collector Rosalinda Adamcik won over Brenda Fietsam in the Republican Primary 3,435 to 2,592.

The Precinct-Three Justice of the Peace race featured four Republicans: Charles Zapalac with 683, Ed Hulsey – 98, Havard Macik – 292 and Terri Steinhuser-Hefner – 534. Zapalac and Hefner will meet again in the runoff election on May 24thl.

The lone contested race in Lee County was for Sheriff. Incumbent Rodney Meyer won over challenger Nathan Lapham in the Republican primary 2,307 to 825.

In Waller County, Terry Hall beat out incumbent, R. Glenn Smith in the Republican Primary for County Sheriff, 2,967 to 2,419.

In the Republican race for County Commissioner Precinct-One, incumbent John A. Amsler won with 742 votes to his challengers Brian Becvar with 161, Brian Nichols with 428, and Rupert Sheridan with 75.

The Democrats race in Precinct Three features: Darryl Johnson won with 318 over Jeron Barnett with 177, Brian Rowland with137, and Maduforo Eze with 92.

In the Democrats’ race for Constable Precinct-Three, incumbent Herschel Smith won over his challengers with 515 faces votes to Duke A. Shariff-Bey’s 124 and John Murphy’s 88.
