AUSTIN COUNTY ROAD PAVING SCAM

Austin County Sheriff Jack Brandes is warning the citizens of his county that some disreputable people are perpetrating a ‘paving scam’ on residents, mostly those with long drive ways.

The Sheriff says a group of people show up at a residence, with dump trucks, bobcats and rollers, and cheap road materials, saying they just completed a job down the street and they have plenty of material left over.  They will then offer a really good price on a job, that turns out to be much more expensive than thought.  The sheriff says oftentimes they do more  than they agreed to, costing the victim much more money.

The sheriff says it is important that if you are contacted by this company that you contact the sheriff’s office.   He says it is important to get references for any such work.
