AUSTIN COUNTY STORM UPDATE

Austin County continues to clean up and recover from this week’s massive storms.

According to County Sheriff Jack Brandes, most of the county’s roads have reopened.  However, FM-2429, from Bellville to Cat Spring remains closed due to water still running over the road.  And, FM-331 from Highway 36 to the Burleigh area still has water over it.

Sheriff Brandes also says the Brazos River rose over a-foot-and-a-half overnight in the San Filipe area, and that people in low lying areas have been warned they may have to evacuate if it continues to rise.

He says everyone in that area has been notified.

The sheriff also says that could lead to the closure of FM-1458 in the near future.
