BAKER HUGHES SHUTS DOWN IN BRYAN

  

One of the world's largest oilfield service companies has closed its Bryan location.

Fifty-four employees at the Baker Hughes' plant near Highway 21 and FM 2818 are losing their jobs with the closure.

Included in the layoffs are: 20 field operators; Eight field specialists; six lab technicians; four manufacturing operators; four repair and maintenance technicians; two in operations support; two field engineers; an office administrator; and a trainer.

The employees will be paid for 60 days, and will get benefits for three months.

In January, because of a downturn in the oil industry, the Houston-based company laid off 7,000 employees.
