BAKER NAMED FIRST-TEAM ALL-CONFERENCE USA

A former Brenham Cubs baseball standout has been named first-team All-Conference-USA.

UT-San Antonio infielder Jesse Baker was selected to the conference’s First-Team, announced on Tuesday in Hattiesburg, Miss., site of the 2015 Conference USA Baseball Championship.

Baker is currently second in the conference in homeruns with 14; second in doubles with 21; and leads the conference with 129 total bases.

Baker is also hitting .325 with 38 runs scored and 43 runs batted in.

Baker and his Roadrunner teammates will be taking on Middle Tennessee State, Wednesday at 9:00 in the opening round of the Conference-USA tournament.

While with the Cubs, Baker was a two-year starter, and helped lead the team to the State semifinals in 2011.

He was named Hw honorable mention all-state, All-Greater Houston Area, all-district and state all-tournament team.
