BARNHILL CENTER RECEIVES GENEROUS DONATION

The Barnhill Center at the Historic Simon Theatre received a generous donation over the weekend.  Deirdre and Don Imus donated $150,000 to the Center.  Don Imus and his wife live in the Gay Hill area of Washington County, having moved here from New Mexico in 2015.  Imus is known mainly from his Imus in the Morning radio show which began in New York City in 1971.

Hal Moorman, chairman of the Brenham Main Street Historical Preservation non-profit organization says they are very excited about the donation.  The group raised over $5 million for the restoration of the Simon Theatre and are now raising funds to renovate an adjacent building into meeting rooms to add to the Barnhill Center.  Those wishing to donate to the project can go to TheBarnhillCenter.com/giving.

  1. Thanks, y’all! Here’s looking forward to the day you hold a nationwide charity call-in at the Center!

  2. I was a regular listener to Imus in the Morning in New York in the early 70’s.
It is nice to know he lives in my neck of the woods again. Thank you Don and Deirdre for your generous donation!
