BEARD SENTENCED TO 15 YEARS
A College Station woman has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for trying to hire a hit man to kill her ex-boyfriend.
Nicolette Beard was convicted of a first degree felony Thursday night by a Brazos County jury in the 272nd District Court.
Brazos County Assistant District Attorney Kara Comte says Beard's attorney broached the idea of a plea agreement to resolve the case without the jury having to determine punishment.
Beard was arrested back in September of 2013, after she tried to hire a hit man to kill 30 year old Anthony Drymalla III. Unknown to Beard, is that the alleged hit man was an undercover police officer.
Authorities say the motive was an upcoming child custody hearing. Police say Beard wanted it to look like an accident, and that she was fine if Drymalla's current wife was also killed in the attack.
Beard will serve at least half of her sentence, 7 1/2 years, before she is eligible for parole.
