BELTON SCHOOLS TO REOPEN

The three Belton ISD schools that were closed a second Friday after the district learned that two of their students were on the same flight as the Dallas nurse diagnosed with Ebola will open today.

Originally, the district planned to the keep the schools open and the health district said the two students could attend class, but the decision to close the schools was made through the U.S. Centers for Disease Control’s recommendation, after one of the student’s parents was considered at some risk based on the seat assignments, which was considered in close approximation to the nurse’s seat on the flight.

The Belton School district said in an earlier press release that “The health and safety of our students is my first priority.”
