BHS SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER RECEIVES SPECIAL GIFT FROM STUDENTS

Staff and students of Brenham High School surprised BHS School Resource Officer (SRO) Corporal Lance Weiss with a very special presentation on Friday.

BHS Assistant Principal Dr. Herbert Schoener coordinated a surprise presentation in the BHS band hall. As part of the surprise, Corporal Weiss received a call from the walkie-talkie to report to the band hall immediately. When Corporal Weiss arrived, he was greeted with cheers and applause from students and staff who were staged for his arrival. The BHS Cub Band played Jingle Bells and the BHS alma mater, while students presented Corporal Weiss with a gift.weisssurprise

The Brenham Police Department unveiled new Cub green uniforms in August to be worn on game days in support of the Brenham Cubs. Noticing that Corporal Weiss wears his Cub green uniform daily to support his assigned campus, the BHS staff and students presented him with a brand new uniform to help with daily wear and tear, as well as to thank him for all that he does for the campus. In response to the surprise, Corporal Weiss said, “Y’all got me good! I can’t thank you enough for what you just did.”

Dr. Schoener said the presentation was a coordinated effort by many parties at Brenham High School, as well as the Brenham Police Department. Several Brenham police officers were in attendance at the special presentation including former BHS SRO Sergeant Kelvin Raven. Dr. Schoener said, “Over my career I've been fortunate enough to work with many outstanding SROs and law enforcement. However, I have to say Corporal Weiss sets the bar to a new level. We are truly blessed to have him at BHS.”
