BHS STUDENTS CELEBRATE “MOLE DAY”

Brenham High School students joined with chemistry enthusiasts around the world as they celebrated “Mole Day”.

“Mole Day”, celebrated annually on October 23rd from 6:02 a.m. to 6:02 p.m., commemorates Avogadro's Number (6.02 x 1023), a unit of measurement in chemistry. Lindsay Halfmann, Brenham High School chemistry teacher and Head of the BHS Science Department, has been celebrating the day with her students since 2008.

Halfmann’s students created and presented projects ranging from homemade fabric moles and posters to original musical pieces and demonstrations. The theme for this year’s celebration was “The Periodic Table of EleMOLEments”.

“Mole Day” was created as a way to foster interest in chemistry in schools throughout the United States and around the world.
