BISD BOARD APPROVES SPENDING FOR CAPTURING KIDS HEARTS

The Brenham School Board agreed to spend $90,000 to send teachers, administrators and staff to be trained under the ‘Capturing Kid’s Hearts’ program at their meeting last (Monday) night.

Superintendent Sam Bell said he hopes much of this funding will come from federal title grants.

“Capturing Kid’s Hearts’ is a phase from the Flippen Group’s ‘Game Changers’ program.  The program trains faculty and school officials to better relate to students. The  Game Changers ptogram helps students stay in school and keeping them enthusiastic while being there.

The board voted unanimously to pay for the training, with sessions in Houston and Round Top.

Board Secretary Natalie Lange says this program makes a ‘real difference’  while Board Vice-President Marshall  says the program comes highly recommended.  Board president Melvin Ehlert believed the training program should also include training for the school board and staff.
