BISD BOARD TO DISCUSS SUPERINTENDENT’S JOB

The Brenham School Board took the first step in finding a successor to outgoing superintendent Sam Bell.

The board met in special session Monday at noon.

In that session they held a closed-door session in which they  discussed the process for searching for a new superintendent.  Then they’re expected to discuss an interim superintendent to serve in the post until a full-time one can be hired.

The board reached an agreement to buy-out Bell’s contract at their meeting October 20th.

Bell has been the superintendent since April of 2009 when he succeeded David Yeager, and his current contract runs through July of 2016.

Recently, though, Bell had become embroiled in conflicts with several board members who made critical comments in public session over Bell’s performance.

Monday’s special meeting was held at noon at the Administrative offices at 711 Mansfield.
