BJHS TEACHER ALLISON BENTKE SELECTED AS HEB SEMI-FINALIST

A second Brenham ISD teacher has been selected Statewide Semi-Finalist in the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards.  Brenham Junior High School teacher Allison Bentke was selected as a Statewide Semi-Finalist during the preliminary judging of the 2018 Awards.  Thursday, Krause Elementary School teacher Laura Weiss was also announced as a semi-finalist.  The two teachers were chosen from more than 1400 applications from educators across the state.  She was honored by H-E-B with a certificate of recognition and a $250 gift certificate.

Bentke has served Brenham ISD for 16 years, and currently teaches 8th grade science at Brenham Junior High School. Bentke was honored last year by the Washington County Soil and Water Conservation District as the 2017 Washington County Conservation Teacher. She was also recognized by the Texas Wildlife Association as one of 11 “Women of the Land” and selected as the Brenham ISD Teacher of the Year in 2010.
