BLINN ALUMNI AND FRIENDS ASSOCIATION DONATES $1,000 TO STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS
The Blinn College Alumni & Friends Association has donated $1,000 to the Blinn College Veterinary Technology Student Association and the Emergency Medical Services Student Association in appreciation of their assistance at the 2016 Blinn College Clay Shootout.
The Clay Shootout, hosted on April 1 by the Alumni & Friends Association and the Alumni Lettermen Association, raised $53,000 thanks to the efforts of approximately 100 volunteers, including more than 30 from the Veterinary Technology Student Association and the Emergency Medical Services Student Association.
The Shootout attracted 57 teams and 228 participants, surpassing organizers’ goal of 50 teams.
“We could not have raised these funds for Blinn students without the support of the entire community,” said Dr. Kyle Merten, alumni relations director. “The Alumni & Friends Association, the Alumni Lettermen Association, and all our volunteers were crucial to making this an event to be proud of. We could not have achieved this success without the support of all our sponsors, especially LaRoche Chevrolet Buick GMC Cadillac, which underwrote the event.”
Both student organizations are designed to provide fellowship for their members, promote the values of their professions, and support their community through volunteer service.
Blinn’s Alumni & Friends Association maintains contact with former students, encourages support for and participation in the College’s educational, cultural, athletic, and social programs, encourages student recruitment, and assists the College in achieving its goals and objectives.
