BLINN ANNOUNCES NEW RESOURCE AND GRAND DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT

Blinn College announced today the establishment of a new, district-wide Resource & Grant Development department.

Tasked with tapping large revenue streams to fund College divisions and projects, the Resource & Grant Development department will create new programs and partnerships that continue to make Blinn a leader among community colleges. Department personnel will work closely with faculty and staff in securing external grants that can assist specific faculty, staff and division needs.

“This move is going to open up opportunities for Blinn that we haven’t seen before, simply because we have not had staff dedicated to this work,” said Dr. Mary Hensley, District President/CEO. “With declining funds available from the state, this department will be a key contributor to the success of Blinn College.”

Sylvia McMullen will serve as Executive Director of Resource & Grant Development. A 30-year veteran in educational leadership, business development, project management and marketing research, McMullen will assist the college in achieving its mission and vision through the cultivation of grants and new partnerships with local, state and federal entities.

“This is the right move at just the right time,” McMullen said. “I am excited to lead the charge in extending our existing base of partnerships and creating new partnerships for the benefit of Blinn. This move is going to enhance the entire Blinn College district.”

Dr. Jimmy Byrd will oversee operations of Blinn’s Bryan campus as interim Executive Director.
